The 'Calibration Standard' of the test bench which is recognized as a vital (Calibration) Standard for testing and calibrating residential gas meters. Gas meters are predominantly utilized in venues such as hotels and dining establishments. This apparatus is ideally suited for Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Calibration Laboratories, and Calibration Service Providers. The test bench is equipped with two bell prover sizes, enabling effective coverage of an extensive range of flow rates, for instance, from 0.016 m3/h (0.27 LPM) to 6 m3/h (100 LPM).

Within a single testing cycle, up to four Gas Meters can be connected. The system allows for the continuous monitoring of Differential Pressure (DP) across each Meter, along with upstream and downstream pressures and line temperatures. The typical regulation for line pressures is around 500Pa. All testing processes can be effectively managed and automated via a computer, enabling test results to be saved and printed out as needed.

The bell prover plays a crucial role by assisting the gas flow meter test bench in sampling and calibrating the gas flow. It is capable of testing various types of gas meters, including rotameters. The operation of the bell prover includes automatic vertical movement and a gas-output valve that also switches automatically. A variable volume sealed space is created by the combination of the bell prover and liquid cell. As the bell descends into the liquid, the pressure compensation mechanism ensures that the internal gas pressure remains constant, irrespective of the changing depth of the liquid. Simultaneously, the exhaust gas flows from the bell to the flow meters via a connecting pipe, with the exhausted gas volume being compared against the cumulative readings from the meters.

The test bench is primarily constructed for the purpose of calibrating domestic gas meters, including diaphragm, ultrasonic, and thermoelectric gas meters. Its modular design enables the combination of clamping points, allowing from 1x6 to 4x6 configurations for gas meters. This modularity permits the simultaneous testing of 1 to 12 gas meters, facilitating the adaptation and execution of up to twelve test specimens concurrently, all while conducting leak tests automatically. Each gas meter is inspected at three or more measurement points, utilizing a magazine composed of three sonic nozzles as a flow sensor. The exchange of the nozzle magazine can be accomplished with minimal effort, enabling up to five different gas meter types to be calibrated on a single test bench, with an optional nozzle drum containing nine combinable nozzles that can generate up to 512 distinct flow rates.
