What Should You Know About Steel Rail
The rail is one of the main components of the track line. Its function is to support and guide the train to run in a certain direction, to withstand the pressure from the wheel, the impact force and the longitudinal inertial force, the lateral centrifugal force and so on. And transmit the forces to the sleepers, track beds and roadbeds. Provides the least resistant surface for the rolling of the wheel.

Steel Rail Mechanical Performance
Rails should have sufficient strength, toughness and wear resistance. The strength is to withstand the strong pressure of the wheel; the toughness is to withstand the impact of the wheel on the rail. The strength, toughness and wear resistance of the rail depend on the material of the rail, the heat treatment and the shape of the section.

Rail Section
The vertical pressure exerted on the rail by the wheel causes the rail to bend. In order to increase its resistance to pressure and resistance to deflection, it is manufactured into an I-shaped section. (as shown in picture 2)
Rail Type and Selection
The main transport lanes and bottom-hole yards should adopt 24kg/m and 30kg/m rails. With the increase of the running speed of mine electric vehicles and mine cars, the increase of axle load and traffic volume, heavy rails of 30kg/m and above are generally used. .

Rail Damage
When the vertical wear of the rails on the main transport lines of the mine exceeds the limits of the following table, it should be replaced. When reusing or replacing the removed rails, it should not be a light or serious rail; the length of each rail is not shorter than 2m.
Rail Joint
Type of rail joint
The type of joint can be divided into suspension type and bearing type according to the position of the sleeper.
-
Suspended
With this connection method, the joint sleeper spacing can be reduced to enhance the joint's anti-buckling ability. The advantage of this connection is that the elasticity is better. -
Single-bearing pad type
When using a single bearing pad, the sleeper loses stability due to the unevenness of the sleeper. -
Double-bearing pad type
When using the double-bearing pad, the bearing joint of the fishplate is lightly stressed. As the sleeper supports the rail head, the winding at the joint is small.
Docking and misconnection
-
The advantages of misconnection:
1. The impact force is dispersed, and the track bed maintenance work is less.
2. The two rails are interrupted in different places, and it is easy to keep the curve straight. -
Advantages of docking:
1. When the train passes the nose, the impact of the two rails occurs at the same time, so the number of impacts is less than half of the misconnection.
2. In the case of docking, the impact effect is balanced and easy to maintain the level, and in the case of misconnection, the impact is left-right, unbalanced, and difficult to maintain.
