What is a shredder?

Apr. 19, 2024

The Shredder is a machine with a low-speed and high-torque cutter shaft. It can break large objects into irregular small pieces. The broken pieces are usually 10mm-100mm or even larger in size. It is a machine that specializes in crushing solid waste. Usually include double-shaft shredder, single-shaft shredder, four-shaft shredder, etc.

Common uses for shredders include:

1. Reduce the space occupied by garbage, thereby reducing the cost of domestic garbage shipping;

2. Tear waste such as old tires into pieces and use them as fuel or filler;

3. Shatter paper or confidential documents so that they cannot be identified and read;

4. Crushing of waste plastics before cleaning and regeneration;

5. Destruction of counterfeit products, defective products, and electronic hard drives;

6. Volume reduction and reduction of bulky waste and industrial hazardous waste;

7. Pre-treatment and crushing of fruit and vegetable waste and organic waste for landfill fermentation;

8. To prepare for the next process, the materials need to be refined.

Shredder design features

1. The Shredding equipment is heavy-duty in design, made of thick steel plates welded under CO2 protection and quenched, with a solid structure and good anti-vibration effect;

2. Hexagonal knife shaft, alloy steel knife plate, removable and replaceable knife plate, large bearing capacity and high crushing efficiency;

3. The moving blade is forged from alloy steel and hardened and wear-resistant, so it is not easy to wear and can be quickly repaired and reused;

4. Sealed bearings, dustproof and waterproof design, stable operation and low maintenance cost.

5. The electric control cabinet adopts domestic well-known brand electrical components and PLC fully automatic control system, which is easy to operate.

6. Automatic overload protection. When encountering hard objects, the electronic control system is set up to automatically reverse overload protection to protect the host.

7. The pieced structure is easy to transport and install, and the machine has strong rigidity.

8. It is not affected by climate and has no special installation environment requirements.

The shredder is a low-speed shearing crusher. Its structure consists of two knife shafts and a specially designed knife shape, which reduces the size of the material through shearing, tearing and extrusion. Compared with traditional crushers, it has the following differences:

The difference between shredder and crusher

Different processing methods

The shredder uses biaxial cutters to reduce the size of the material through shearing, tearing and squeezing; the crusher uses the hammer head to continuously hit the material to reduce the size of the material.

Output materials have different shapes

The materials produced by the shredder are uniform strips; the materials produced by the crusher are balls of the same size.

Different degrees of crushing

The shredder machine is just a coarse crushing equipment before crushing. Generally, a shredder is used for coarse crushing first, and then a crusher is used for fine crushing.
