I have designed an IOT sensor and it uses LI-SOCL2 batteries. I am using 3 batteries in parallel. I am using Schottky diode in series with each battery to prevent battery short circuit. In short it is three parallel units of "battery + schottky diode". My prototype works well and I would like to make an actual PCBA now.
I would like to get an answer for below queries:
1. Is there any active balancing solution for LI-SOCL2 batteries?
2. I am using E70-915T30S for my RF + MCU. Which supercapacitor is recommended to provide a peak power of 30dBm? I can use a supercapacitor (3.3V) and then boost it to 5V using TPS. At the moment I am using external 3.3V /100mA (this is set in my programmable power supply) as input to TPS.
Kindly suggest me pointers.

We have a done a project for a fill-level sensor for waste containers. The ultrasonic sensor reads the level of garbage inside a waste container and send the value to a cloud platform for vizualization.
The project is currently running fine on DC power with the following components :
- Arduino Nano
- Ultrasonic sensor HC-SR04
- SIM900A GSM module
However we must run the project on batteries. And since the level is only read once a day (the rest of the time it goes in power down) we need to be able to run for a few years on a single set of batteries.
We have found a few suppliers of Li-SoCl2 batteries at 3,6V , Nominal capacity 14Ah and able to supply high pulse currents up to mA (the GSM shield needs up to 2A of pulse currents when transmitting).
Now I would like to power the following components for this project:
- Arduino Pro Mini (either 3,3V or 5V)
- SIM800C (needs between 3,4V - 4V)
- Ultrasonic sensor HC-SR04
What would be the best way to do it?
The Arduino has a voltage regulator, but the GSM shield (SIM800C) does not.
Should I use a two-battery pack (7,2) and step down voltage to 4V for example?
If yes, what would be a good and efficient voltage regulator to use?
